Start or Stop Service

Start Service
To better protect your information, ECE no longer accepts service requests online. Please call 1-800-254-7944 to start your service. Calls are accepted Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.


Stop Service
Access your account online or call 1-800-254-7944 to request service be taken out of your name. ECE verifies all cancellation requests by phone before disconnecting.

To help us serve you better, please have the following information ready:

  • Account number
  • Address
  • Account owner details
    • Full legal name
    • Birthdate
    • Social security number
  • Businesses: Federal Tax ID number

Security Deposit
ECE may require a deposit if our credit reporting agency states a deposit is necessary, or if your account becomes a collection issue in the future.

  • For existing residential accounts, a deposit shall be based on previous energy-use history using two-times the highest bill (or minimum of $250).

  • For new residential accounts without energy- use history, a deposit shall be based on a two-month, system-residential average (or minimum of $250).

  • Business deposits are based on account history of the business or corporation and not on individual owners, even if the member leaves the account in their personal name (or minimum of $500).

  • Deposits for residential accounts are returned, with interest, as a credit after 12 consecutive months of on-time payments without penalties and after 36 consecutive months of on-time payments without penalties for a business account.

Outstanding Balance and Deposit
If you have an outstanding balance with ECE, the outstanding balance plus the deposit will need to be paid before we can provide service.
