East Central Energy has been named a Tree Line USA utility by the National Arbor Day Foundation. It is the only electric cooperative in Minnesota - and one of approximately 20 electric cooperatives throughout the United States - to be so honored.
East Central Energy received the award as a result of the tree care program managed by its forestry staff. The Tree Line USA award honors utilities that strive to promote the dual goals of reliable utility service and healthy trees planted in the right location along America's streets and highways. Sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters, the award recognizes electric, gas, water or telephone utilities that meet three requirements:

• A program of quality tree care
• Annual worker training in proper tree practices
• A tree planting and public education program
  

East Central Energy is committed to recognized standards for proper pruning of trees near electric conductors. Our contractors have training programs to assure that tree workers know and follow tree care guidelines. Tree workers are supervised by International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborists.
