East Central Energy utilizes an automated system called a "TurtleĀ®" to read residential meters. The Turtle AMR system transmits signals from members' meters back through the power lines to ECE computers.
Why is it called a "Turtle"?
This device got its name because it slowly transmits the meter readings every 27 hours through the electrical lines to the substation. A receiver at the substation collects the readings, which are sent to the computer system in our main office and then posted to your account. A record of these meter readings is kept and available upon request.
