Winter Underground Construction Charge:
An additional $6 per trench foot will apply to any underground construction from November 1 through April 1. This is non-refundable and applies to both line footage and Road Push footages.

Underground Service Single Phase:
Option one:
A 200-amp meter pedestal with 200-amp breaker and GFI is placed within 10' of the transformer on the lot line or approximately 150' from the structure. This meter pedestal unit may be purchased from ECE for $600 in addition to the $300 Contribution in Aid or from an electrician. The "Request for Inspection" form is filed by ECE on an ECE purchased pedestal. Additional line extension charges will apply if the pedestal is not within 10' of the transformer.

Option two:
If meter socket is to be located on structure, or by a mobile or manufactured home, the electrician (or homeowner) will provide and install an underground meter socket. Secondary wire is connected to the meter socket and run to ECE's transformer leaving a 10' coil of wire. The wire must be connected to the meter socket before ECE will energize the service. There will be a $300 Connection fee. The "Request for Inspection" form will be filed by the electrician (or homeowner) with the State and ECE. If self-wired, the service must pass electrical inspection before it will be connected by ECE.

Trip charge: There is a $45 charge for the second Staking trip. There is a Crew second trip charge based on a 2 hour Standard (wages & equipment charges) if service is not ready for connection on customer-owned secondaries. The applicable trip charge must be paid before service will be connected.

Overhead Single Phase service:
Option One:
For service on ECE pole, a 200-amp overhead meter loop unit with a 200-amp breaker and a GFI receptacle may be purchased from ECE or from an electrician. The cost for the meter loop unit is $600 in addition to $300 Contribution in Aid. If overhead lines need to be extended, then additional line extension charges will apply. The "Request for Inspection" form for the overhead meter loop unit will be filed by ECE if an ECE meter loop is used.

Option Two:
If meter socket is to be located on structure, or by a mobile or manufactured home, the electrician (or homeowner) will provide and install an underground meter socket. Secondary wire is connected to the meter socket and run to the pole leaving at least 30' of wire for ECE to reach top of pole. There will be a $300 connection fee. The wire must be connected to the meter socket before ECE will energize the service. The "Request for Inspection" form will be filed by the electrician (or homeowner) with the State and ECE. If self-wired, the service must pass electrical inspection before it will be connected by ECE.

Trip charge: There is a $45 charge for the second Staking trip. There is a Crew second trip charge that is based on a 2 hour Standard (wages & equipment charges) if service is not ready for connection on customer-owned secondaries. The applicable trip charge must be paid before service will be connected.

Wisconsin Electrical Inspections: Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) requires that all new One and Two family dwellings require electrical inspection before service is connected. Contact municipality or WI Division of Safety and Buildings 608-267-5113 for additional information.
Structures not covered by UDC - A Certificate of Compliance stating that all electrical work is compliant with WI State and National Electrical code is required to be filed with ECE before service can be connected. This requirement applies to homeowner or contractor wiring.
